Free Speech. Really?

This one’s gonna be brief.  I tried to remain silent, but after recent events, and news releases, I can’t help but draw a comparison.

“Prince Charles’s comparison of Russian President Vladimir Putin with Adolf Hitler triggered a diplomatic row on Thursday when Moscow scolded the heir to the British throne for what it said was an outrageous attempt to sully Russia’s reputation over Ukraine.

During a trip to Canada,  65-year-old Prince Charles told a Jewish woman who fled from Poland during World War Two that in Ukraine “Putin is doing just about the same as Hitler”, according to the Daily Mail newspaper.”

You’d think he just pee’d on his own shoe in public.  Oh, the outcry!!  What did he say?? How could he say that??

One’s ability to speak an opinion is dead. Just like here in the U.S. Look at the N.B.A…..Remember Marge Shott?? (Look it up) And then there’s Donald Sterling.  He spoke his OPINION – that was a big mistake! Not only was the ‘opinion’ recorded without his permission, the recording was made public. No charges were ever filed against the person who made the recording….. it IS illegal, you know.

The age of “Free Speech” is DEAD. No longer can you express your spoken opinion without fear of reprisal. We now live in a time and a country, where we have to look over our collective shoulder before we speak. Really sad. Kinda sounds like North Korea, or China, where your spoken opinion can lead to jail. I can’t help but wonder when that will become true, right here in America…….

We’re   already halfway there.

Russia, Ukraine, Mexico and the United States of America

Sorry, I’ve been away, and not able to post anything interesting, but here, I’ve made an exception:

I just sent this email to Vladimir Putin:

“So, Mr Putin, if China’s military sends masked troops North from Xinjiang into Russia between the borders of Mongolia and Kazakhstan, and they capture Barnaul, Kyzyl, and Irkutsk, that should be OK….because many of the people who live there speak Chinese, right? (You can use Google Earth if you need to…)
I already know that you would not permit this….
However, I would REALLY appreciate an answer… because what you are doing in Ukraine is EXACTLY the same. You claim that you are “protecting” Russian-speaking people in Eastern Ukraine (not really… they do not NEED protection, no formal declaration of a cry for protection has been made) So why can’t ANY sovereign nation invade it’s neighbors under the guise that they are “Protecting” people in other countries who just happen to speak the invaders’ language??

I may be wrong, but since so many people in California speak Spanish, could we not be living in fear that the Mexican Military will invade the United States, and capture San Diego?

Respectfully,
Dr David M Smith USA”

Let’s hear what he has to say

Edward Snowden, Secrets, and Our, no wait, THEIR money.

There have been recent allegations that Edward Snowden couldn’t have pulled of the number of secrets he exposed on his own. There is speculation that he had help.

U.S. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Mich., says National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden may have had help from Russia.  Rogers implied Snowden was not skilled enough to pull off the leak alone. “Some of the things he did were beyond his technical capabilities,” Rogers said. “[That] raises more questions. How he arranged travel before he left.  How he was ready to go — he had a go bag, if you will.”

Well…. the Snowden Incident will go on and on, and someday, we’ll all figure out how, and why he did it, and who helped if anyone.

SECRETS…. I just couldn’t let that word go.  Secrets abound.  They’re everywhere!!

I found this in Yahoo! comments, regarding the Snowden incident, and found much of what he had to say was compelling, (I’ll tell you why in a minute)

“I am making this post, knowing that it’ll garner more negative comments than positive comments. I served in the military for 24 years: part of which was under the Defense Security Agency (the military subsidiary of the NSA at that time). I actively supported Viet Nam, Zaire, Grenada, Desert Shield/Storm, Chad, and Namibia: to name a few. I was also stationed in countries that actively sought out North Americans for kidnappings, bombings, and murders. The general public didn’t even know of these activities because they didn’t have the right to know. Yet we’re outraged that the government can keep secrets while we put them out so that everyone in the world to know. Siding with our citizens is one thing; however, siding with the rest of the world is another. I hope everyone realizes that most of the work has been envious of this country for quite some time”

My own experience concurs with the writer (calls himself “Ard”) – – I HAD to add MY 2 cent’s worth…

Agreed. My experience is similar. There were times my team was called upon to visit “places” outside the border of Viet Nam. “Oh, no”…said the Generals, ‘”we are only in places we are invited”. The public was NOT given information about what our teams were doing and WE were briefed and de-briefed with threats of prison, if we ever admitted that we were IN places we shouldn’t have been, or at least places we weren’t invited. The American public didn’t NEED to know where we were or what we were doing. All they needed to know was that the flow of enemy troops and equipment was “interrupted” on many occasions and that enemy leaders were “lost in battle”. If information about our missions were made known, it’s VERY likely we would have NOT come home. Secrets ARE IMPORTANT, and secrets save lives every day. “Thank you, secrecy.”

My signin is USMC 8541 if you want to look it up….

OK, OK…. what’s up about OUR MONEY???  Money and Secrets. A sly combination. THEIR MONEY?  Let’s take a look.

Hold up your hands, now….. How many of you know that the “Federal Reserve” is a PRIVATELY OWNED Commercial Bank??

Thought so.  Here’s a little history:

Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury, started a movement advocating the creation of a central bank. The Bank Bill created by Alexander Hamilton was a proposal to institute a National Bank, in order to improve the economic stability of the nation after its independence from Britain. Although the national bank was to be used as a tool for the government, it was to be privately owned. Hamilton wrote several articles providing information regarding his national bank idea. The articles expressed the validity and “would be” success of the national bank based upon: incentives for the rich to invest, ownership of bonds and shares, rooted in fiscal management, and stable monetary system.      (Incentives for the RICH to invest???)  Oh yeah!!

I’ll continue:  In response to this, the First Bank of the United States was established in 1791, its charter signed by George Washington. The First Bank of the United States was headquartered in Philadelphia, but had branches in other major cities. The Bank performed the basic banking functions of accepting deposits, issuing bank notes, making loans and purchasing securities.

The  Federal Reserve Act of December 23, 1913, provided for a system that included a number of regional Federal Reserve Banks and a seven-member governing board.  All national banks were required to join the system and other banks could join. The Federal Reserve Banks opened for business in November 1914. Congress created Federal Reserve notes to provide the nation with a flexible supply of currency. The notes were to be issued to Federal Reserve Banks for subsequent transmittal to banking institutions in accordance with the needs of the public.

So… now you know.  We all thought that the “Fed” was the express arm of the Government, who controlled all of the country’s private banks by establishing and setting the day’s interest rates, and advising all the OTHER banks as to lending practices, standardized banking, and most of all, (we thought), a Government entity, responsible for securing and protecting the wealth of our nation.  NOT!!!

It’s REALLY a private bank, run by 7 very powerful people, who decide, day to day, everything about our country’s money… and further, a bank that runs on profit and loss…. mostly profit…benefiting only those who run it.

Yes, Their money… not ours.           Great secret, huh?

Our “President” is killing us

I just came across this, and, as a Disabled USMC Combat Vet, I feel it so important, that I urge that whoever reads this will forward it on to anyone you know, use your entire contact list….. IT IS VITAL THAT EVERY AMERICAN READS THIS!!!

You may not be a veteran but you might know someone who is to pass this on to.

VOTE!  VOTE!! VOTE!!!

URGENT! A movement has been started by our armed forces, to get out the vote in 2014.. They are organizing themselves, but this can be done by all of us. The President, the Commander in Chief, has made the Rules of Engagement (ROE) so difficult, that our troops are often killed before they can even get permission to fight. Nothing has been done to stop our troops from being murdered by Afghanis they are training, either. Now, the President wants the US to sign on to the UNs International Criminal Court (ICC), which would allow the UNs ICC to arrest and try US troops for War Crimes, without the legal protections guaranteed under US Law, and from which there is no appeal. The President, with his Democratic control of the Senate, has nearly all the power. If the Non-Establishment can take back the Senate in 2014, our troops can once again be protected from unnecessary danger. Please consider this, and send it on to your mailing lists. Thank You and Semper Fi,
Interestingly enough, when GWB was president you heard about the the military deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan almost daily. With Obama in the White House, the mainstream media has been strangely quiet. —More than 1,000 American soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan in the last 27 months. This is more than the combined total of the nine years before. Thirty have died in August. During the last month, over 50 additional NATO and US servicemen have been murdered, inside jobs by those who are hired to be a force for good in Afghanistan.
The commander in chief is AWOL. Not a peep, although he ordered the White House flag flown at half-staff for the Sikhs that were killed. There is a deep disgust, a fury, growing in the ranks of the military against the indifferent incompetence of this president.
It has taken on a dangerous tone. No one knows what to do about him, but the anger runs deep as the deaths continue with no strategic end in sight to the idiocy of this war. Obama has had 4 years to end this futile insanity, during which time he has vacationed, golfed, campaigned, and generally ignored the plight of our men and women in uniform. But, there is now a movement afoot in the armed services to launch a massive get out the vote drive against this president.  Not just current active duty types, but the National Guard, Reserves, the retired, and all other prior service members. This is no small special interest group, but many millions of veterans who can have an enormous impact on the outcome of the November election if they all respond.

The million military retirees in Florida alone could mean an overwhelming victory in that state if they all show up at the polls. It might not keep another one hundred U.S. troops from dying between now and November, but a turn out to vote by the military against this heart breaking lack of leadership can make a powerful statement that hastens a change to the indifference of this shallow little man who just lets our soldiers die.
Veterans: Please forward to your lists. High Priority!

CONGRESS: OUR REPRESENTATIVES??

Hi all… I haven’t written lately, just because I haven’t thought of anything I thought would be thought-worthy.

Today is a new day…. I came across this while trolling the net and said “wow” out loud.   I think you will too.

The subject is Congress: Our Representatives?

Do THEY really KNOW who they “represent”?  Doubtful.  Please enjoy the following:

All anyone has to do is look at these individuals seated comfortably upon their plush chairs within their gilded secured offices of power paid for by us taxpayers to get angry.

They have never wanted or gone without.

They have not had to calculate how much they could afford to spend on gas while still having enough left over for food, and whether that would be enough gas to get to and from work until the next pay check.

They have never feared looking through the mail every day hoping some random bill hadn’t slipped through the cracks in their monthly budgeting.

They have never stared at a backed up drain wondering how they were going to afford to take the day off of work unpaid, much less pay a plumber.

They have never glanced anxiously out the window at the rain wondering if that old roof was leaking or how much water was pooling up in the basement because they could not afford thousands in repairs.

They have never prayed while trying to start the car on a cold winter morning, hoping that it started just one more time to get them to work.

They have never felt the anger at watching someone wearing the best clothes, driving a new car, pay for their groceries with their, as well as others’, LINK card (and calling the other people on their new i-phone asking them what the pin number was for their card).

They have never tried to glue the soles of their work boots back on trying to get them to last just a little longer.

They have never had to scrimp and save for a year, or more, just to afford to go tent camping and fishing for a few days.

They have never had the stark realization that, even though they have health insurance (which costs more than their mortgage), that it would only take one accident or major illness to put them out on the streets and lose everything that they had worked so hard for so many years to build.

They have never put themselves through college, incurring tens of thousands in student loans, studying for prosperous, non-frivolous or “liberal arts” degrees, only to hear that their education is obsolete less than ten years after finishing school, and having no way of going back to school as they still owe on their student loans.

They have NEVER walked in the worn out shoes of the AVERAGE WORKING AMERICAN so how could we expect them to do what is in the best interest of or know what it is like to be an AVERAGE WORKING AMERICAN when they, themselves, are NOT AVERAGE WORKING AMERICANS?!

HOW CAN THEY POSSIBLY CLAIM TO BE OUR ‘REPRESENTATIVES’??

Screw the poor, says Congress. (Makes Obamacare look good!!)

I’d really love to take credit for this but I’m just passing on the newest and latest and greatest of how your Congress has again put the screws to the poor, homeowners who soon will not be, and our kids.

This article needs to be cut, copied and pasted into every social network, sent every editor of every newspaper, texted to every radio commentator, and investigative reporter in the United States.

When will it stop?  When will our government stop screwing us out of our house and homes?  The cuts have to end somewhere.

The Congress… our “representatives” have moved to silence us at every turn.  It’s time to speak up, and stick up for ourselves.

Send this whole article to YOUR “Congressional “Representative”, and ask, “Did YOU vote for this??”   See how fast you’re ignored.

The 113th Congress has stuck it to the poor at pretty much every opportunity. In fact, if you take all their past and future plans into account, it looks like they have accomplished that rare feat: To close in on enacting an overarching, radical agenda without control of the Senate or the presidency. How did they do it? Probably by escaping scrutiny through a piecemeal approach to legislation, a president who is willing to meet them halfway, and one diabolic word: Sequester.

Let’s drill down into each piece:

1. Kick ’em to the curb
Congress will basically start kicking poor people out of their homes early next year. The idea is, if you can’t pay for your home without government assistance, you don’t deserve to live in one. In this spirit, budget cuts due to sequestration will take rental assistance vouchers away from 140,000 low-income families by the beginning of next year, making housing more expensive as agencies raise costs to offset the budget cuts. All in all, about three million disabled seniors and families will be affected. The savings? $2 billion, which is pretty much what the government shutdown cost in back-pay to federal workers.

If you’re lucky enough to keep your home, don’t expect to heat it. Sequester cuts to the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) meant that 300,000 low-income families in 2013 were denied government support for energy costs.

2. Take the food out of their mouths. Literally.
The recent reduction in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits has affected more than 47 million Americans and is the largest wholesale cut in the program since Congress passed the first Food Stamps Act in 1964.

The cuts to Food Stamps were implemented on November 1. Yet, Congress won’t let the program rest there — House Republicans are pushing to take $39 billion from SNAP over the next decade. If their plan succeeds, the Congressional Budget Office estimates that 3.8 million low-income individuals would lose their benefits in 2014 with 2.8 million more getting kicked off the program each year. SNAP is one of the three most effective anti-poverty programs the government has, keeping four million people out of poverty last year alone. So the initial and further cuts make a lot of sense — if you despise the poor.

And don’t worry, other cuts to food programs ensure both the oldest and youngest amongst us won’t be spared. Cuts to Meals on Wheels will cost poor seniors four to 18 million meals next year. Meanwhile, the Women, Infants, and Children program (WIC), which provides health care referrals and nutrition to poor pregnant and postpartum women and children up to age five, has grappled with $500 million in cuts this year and faces even deeper ones next. Fair’s fair, though.

3. Dim their kids’ future
There’s nothing that will make our economic future brighter than under-educating our children, right? That’s why, again as a result of sequestration, Head Start literally had to kick preschoolers out of their classrooms this March and removed 57,000 children from the program this September (70,000 kids total are will be affected). If this weren’t enough, more than half of public schools have fired personnel due to the ominous cuts — and Representative Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said sequestration “has been one of the good things that has happened.” Given that 40 percent of children who don’t receive early childhood education are more likely to become a parent as a teenager, 25 percent are more likely to drop out of school, and 70 percent are more likely to be arrested for a violent crime, this is definitely the definition of a “good thing.”

4. Erase the roadmap for employment
The United States has one of the stingiest unemployment programs in the developed world and it is getting even stingier. People who have been out of work for 27 weeks or more — 40 percent of the unemployed — have already begun and will continue to lose a large portion of their benefits between January and March. Eight percent of this year’s sequestration cuts are coming from unemployment insurance. The logic here is that the program discourages people from looking for work, so why fund something that just makes the unemployed lazier? The evidence, however, proves that government assistance fuels the job searches of these 4.4 million Americans. Yet by the end of December, about 1.3 million will lose their extended jobless benefits if Congress doesn’t renew the program. And cuts to the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program (TANF, or welfare) means there will be even less of safety net to fall back on.

5. Make ’em work till they drop
President Obama put Social Security cuts in his budget for fiscal year 2014, and Republicans are thrilled. Switching to a new formula called Chained CPI would lead to benefit cuts of $230 billion dollars in the next ten years. Apparently, it’s Social Security that’s driving up the debt, as Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) has said. The irony here, according to The New York Times’ Paul Krugman, is that while debt can indirectly make us poor if deficits drive up interest rates and discourage productive investment (they haven’t), investment is low because the economy is so weak, partly from cutbacks in public spending and investment — the cuts, such as this one, that supposedly protect Americans from a future of excessive debt. Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) and Tom Harkin (Iowa) have been fighting an uphill battle to boost Social Security benefits. But carry on, Congress. What you’re doing really makes sense here.

In just a few short decades, we’ve gone from LBJ’s Great Society, where many of these ideas originated, to this Congress’ attacks on the poor. According to the Census Bureau, safety net programs keep tens of millions of Americans out of poverty each year. But that’s just not the federal government’s priority anymore.

This Congress’ message: It’s every man for himself.

Thanksgiving is for who???

Sometimes, God just hands you a stupid person, and the fun begins.

Let’s take a moment and remember the Holiday: Thanksgiving.  A time to be thankful for the things you have, and those things in your life that you want to say “Thanks!” for…

Like Sarah Palin.  Sarah made HER feelings known when she interviewed with a local morning talk show in Washington.

The segment started off well enough. It was really just a puff piece about the meaning of Thanksgiving in people’s lives. Things derailed quickly however, when the interviewer asked Palin about the ‘controversy’ surrounding the holiday.

Palin sat dumbfounded unaware of any controversy. The host went on to fill her in on the fact that many Native American tribes do not celebrate the holiday. In fact, it is a day of mourning for them. And those that do celebrate the day do so because it is a reminder that they survived mass murder, forced relocation, the theft of their land and many other injustices.

Hold on to your shorts, pilgrim…… Here’s what she had to say…..

“Thanksgiving is for real Americans not Indians. We founded this Christian nation. Why, if it wasn’t for the God-fearing pilgrims, the natives would still be running around in loin cloths shooting at things with their arrows.”

The host of the show, bravely tried to SAVE her!  He said: “Surely, you’re aware that the Indians were the native population of this country and were driven from their homes by the European settlers.?”

This further incited Palin, who continued, “I’ll tell ya what I know. I know that these tribes do a lot of whining. I mean they got special rights up the wazzoo. They have those casinos all over the place. Seems to me they got a great deal. If they would just put down the bottle and whatever they’re smoking in those peace pipes and get a job like the rest of us, they’d be alright. I see it all the time in Alaska with the Inuit. They just don’t want to join the rest of us. They’re still hunting whale for gosh sake.”

Yeah, I didn’t believe it for a minute either….

NOW, WE WOULDN’T WANT TO MAKE FUN OF HER, NOW, WOULD WE??

NAHH.
